Whenever a page on your website doesn't load, an error message shall be displayed to the site visitor. Since there are different errors, there are different pages that'll appear, but what's standard for all of them is that they are generic and probably will have absolutely nothing in common with the design of your Internet site, which could be aggravating for any site visitor. This is the main reason why website hosting providers have introduced a feature named Custom Error Pages. For a range of different errors, website visitors will see your customized content, which can be informative or amusing, in accordance with your taste, and which shall match the overall design of your Internet site, so the pages shall not appear as if they are not part of your Internet site at all. You can use this option for many errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).

Custom Error Pages in Shared Hosting

The custom made error pages feature is provided with each shared hosting package that we offer and you'll be able to substitute the generic pages with your own with no more than a few clicks in your Hepsia website hosting Control Panel. You will need to create the actual files and to upload them to your account, and then to set them for a given domain or subdomain through the Hosted Domains section of the Hepsia CP. You can do this for each website hosted in the account individually, so that every set of customized pages will have the exact same design as the website it's part of. If necessary, you may always go back to a default page from our system or to the default Apache server page. One other way to set custom made error pages is to create an .htaccess file inside the domain/subdomain root folder and to include a few lines in it. If you have not done this before, you could simply copy the necessary code from our Help article on the subject.
